Moore Park Beach Arts Inc wishes to thank EventsQueensland for their generous support and assistance for the 2012 Moore Park Beach Festival of Arts, without which the festival would not have been the great event it was.

The Moore Park Beach annual Festival of Arts is a Spring highlight of the Wide Bay/Burnett Region's cultural scene.

From Friday 17th August to Sunday 19th August 2012, the public enjoyed a fun-filled family weekend, revolving around a wonderful display of visual art and photography in the Community Hall. Giant Kite flying and Sand Sculpture took place on and around the beach precinct.

Moore Park Beach Arts Inc. is a unique community group driven to providing an outlet for the many and varied aspects of art in the community. Artists, photographers, sculptors with many other arts and craft groups came together to present their craft. The Art and Photography Exhibition was open to all amateur artists.

The Community Hall was filled with Award winning art and photography for the weekend which opened with Award presentations on Friday 17th August.

Over the weekend exciting giant kites filled the air above the beach and yet higher up gyrocopters and aeronautical displays skimmed along the coastline, while on the sand children joined with the sand sculptor as he taught the intricacies of sand moulding.

On the Bicentennial Oval, market and food stalls abounded providing a backdrop to the exciting displays of horsemanship, Tae Kwon Do, international dancing, musical entertainment, cheerleading and tumbling. Jumping castle, face painting and balloon clowns were just a few of the activities to keep the littlies occupied.

Many came for the weekend and enjoyed our beautiful 17 klms of unspoilt beach as well as our wonderful Festival of Arts.

School participation is a big part of the Festival with many of the local schools participating in the Art programme as well as providing art in the form of music on the Friday morning. 2012 was no exception with school bands from around the district giving a free concert on the grassed area of the Community Hall.

The concert was open and the public came and supported these young musicians as they enjoyed the art of music. Thanks go to teachers and parents for their support of this important part of the weekend.
